Located in Santenay, the 17-hectare domaine of Jacques Girardin produces three Premier Cru red wines in Santenay, Clos Rousseau, Les Maladières and Clos Beauregard, Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru “Les Peuillets,” as well as Pommard Village and Bourgogne Pinot Noir. He also produces a luscious Santenay Blanc, Bourgogne Blanc, and a small amount of Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru “Morgeot.” The entire Girardin family are renowned winemakers, including Jacques’ father Jean, and his brother Vincent. Jacques has been producing wine from his own domaine since 1978. Jacques’ wines age in oak for 12 to 16 months. His 1èr Cru Santenays are characterized by aromas of blackberry, cassis and spice. All of his red wines are supple and fruity, and drink well when young. The general style is slightly rustic with delicious, lingering fruit. His white wines are finely balanced with notes of vanilla and spice intermingled with aromas of apples and pears.
